Day Three by Sule Bayrak (Trabzon, Turkey)

Here we go! After three days of having fun, getting to know each other, enjoying the Jamaican food, visiting the best tourist attractions and most importantly meeting with lovely Jamaican people, we were ready to make a good start. Everyone was ready to discuss the environment and its problems. Conference Co-ordinator Desmond Campbell launched the conference and welcomed overseas participants and principal of Moneague College Mr. Howard Isaacs greeted us as well. Glenn Standish introduced the Global Footsteps and Rendezvous Society to the new friends of the big group. The case studies were listened carefully by the participants and everyone was very excited about getting to know the problems and positive aspects of the cities. I now know many things about Baururi, Torun and Cheltenham for example. The case study was followed by the amazing speech by the representative from the ministry of tourism, entertainment and environment. The first part was closed by the welcome and declared opening by a representative from the Municipality of Saint Ann.
The afternoon workshop cut for five minutes by the sudden showers (since people wanted to turn back and close their windows) and we felt refreshed and completely ready for the workshop. The presentations were on deforestation in Brazil, mining in Poland, climate change in Glaucestershire, factory process in Russia, transportation in Turkey and post-consumption in US. Personally, I learned a lot and felt very excited about setting up a local community which works efficently. I am looking forward to tomorrow.
